On 1 July, 2019, Neale Daniher was named as Victorian of the Year.
He’s been a great player, coach and personality in the V/AFL community. But there is, of course, so much more to the Daniher story.
Since taking on ‘The Beast’ of Motor Neurone Disease in 2013, Neale Daniher’s determination to find a cure for MND has seen Fight MND raise nearly $30 million for medical research projects, while nearly $2.5 million has been dedicated to caring for those with MND.
Made Melburnian of the Year in 2016, Daniher was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the same year ‘For significant service to community health through support for people with Motor Neurone Disease and their families, and to Australian rules football.’
His continues to be a special contribution to many lives, and we congratulate him – our Victorian of the Year.
